If you have not traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania than you are missing out! 

Recently I visited Lancaster, and I captured some great places I love to share that are family friendly.

Things to know about Lancaster and the Amish

Lancaster is home to the largest Amish settlement in the world. Visitors come from around the world to see and learn about the Amish and their culture. There are many opportunities for visitors to learn about the Amish lifestyle. The Amish are private people who avoid as much contact with strangers and the "outside world" as possible for important religious and cultural reasons. When visiting their community, please keep the following basic courtesy rules in mind: “no pictures” rule. 

What kind of food is Lancaster PA known for?

When in Lancaster, eat scrapple and sweet bologna to whoopie pies and homemade Doughnuts.

Lancaster, PA is home to some unique eats that may not be common in other areas of the country. They are tasty reminders of our heritage, history, and deep PA Dutch roots.

  • Go for a horse-drawn Amish buggy ride through the Amish countryside.
  • Or, take a guided farmland tour and visit an Amish farm.
  • Soar through the trees on a zip-line or tackle a challenging ropes course (with courses for all ages).
  • Visit a local farmers market with delicious baked goods, fresh-from-the-farm cheeses and produce, and unique Lancaster County gifts.
  • Many free things to do throughout Lancaster County.
