Traveling with Little Ones

By Enchanted Vacation Planners & Macaroni Kid Moorestown-Mt. Laurel September 14, 2023

Traveling is a wonderful opportunity to see the world, learn new languages, and experience other cultures. That’s an incredible gift to give to your children! But let’s be real, traveling with little ones is no easy task and it’s SCARY!

I’m here to tell you that it’s totally doable and that I love helping families make those adventures happen. Over the years I’ve learned a lot of great tips, even tips for traveling with multiples (I have twins), that I’d love to share. I’ve been traveling since I was a child and now as a Mama of 4 I enjoy taking my own kids. I became a travel agent over 8 years ago because of that passion and I specialize in family vacations because it’s so important. Best of all, my services are free! Here are some of my favorite travel tips for traveling with little ones:

  • Snacks!
    • Reusable stackable containers (Amazon) Perfect for backpacks traveling or at school!

Amazon.com: Whiskware Disney Stackable Snack Containers for Kids and Toddlers, 3 Stackable Snack Cups for School and Travel, Mickey and Minnie : Baby

  • Twizzlers! Great for helping little ears to pop! Gotta chew
  • Munchkins Best security waiting distraction & breakfast on the go
  • Empty water bottle Get thru security & then fill up during a potty run

Airport waiting & schedules

  • Target early morning or naptime flights. Take off makes you drowsy
  • Pay to pick seats I know this stinks! But it’s the only way to guarantee you sit with your kids. Airlines aren’t required to seat families together and with so many paying for seats now they will split you up.
  • Remember to arrive 2 hours prior for domestic & 3 hours prior for International
  • Cheap Umbrella strollers Gate check for easy access and to prevent damaging good/expensive strollers
  • Backpacks These count as a child’s personal item & fit under the seat. So, let your child pack their favs including a lovie and carry it on themselves if possible.
  • Flight Entertainment
    • Headphones (Amazon) Great for kids, easy to use, & collapsible

  • Color Magic sets/Sticker Books Hit Target or Amazon for coloring sets that only color paper or sticker books for easy onboard activities. Avoid water!
  • Kids Kindle Fire (Amazon) Electronic but can download movies, cartoons, or educational games to play onboard. They’re small and Black Friday deals.

Amazon.com: Amazon Fire 7 Kids Tablet (2022) - ages 3-7. 2 year worry-free guarantee, 10-hr battery, ad-free content, parental controls, durable high-res screen, kid-proof case with kickstand, 16 GB, Purple : Everything Else

Remember your kids want to help and have fun too. So let them push the buttons to print out luggage tags, let them help read the weight scales, pull their suitcases for a little bit, and explain what people’s jobs are at security so they’re not scared. The airport can be a great educational experience too. And once through security let them walk around, point out airplanes, and play “I Spy” to occupy the waiting time.

You can do this! And I am available to help you every step of the way.
